Hey, I’m Jay — owner, guide, photographer, and the guy who’ll be helping you explore Yellowstone. Although you’ll see “we” around the site, it’s mostly just me — with a little help behind the scenes from my wife — planning every trip the way I would for a close friend.
This isn’t a big company with canned routes and rigid schedules. As the sole guide and owner of Yellowstone Country Explorers, I pour everything I’ve got into making each journey personal, memorable, and fun.
You’ll travel in comfort in my modern Ford Transit 350 XLT mid-roof van — with enough headroom to stand up, stretch out, and enjoy the ride. It’s roomy, reliable, and built for long days in the wild. You’ll also enjoy fresh, hearty meals made locally in Gardiner, Montana.
With seven seasons living and working in and around the park, I’ve hiked hundreds of miles in and around the park and have come to know Yellowstone and the wild country that surrounds it intimately. I don’t believe in one size-fits-all tours. Every trip is shaped around your pace, your curiosity, and your sense of adventure. Almost all trips can be customized to fit your needs, wants and desires.
Not a fan of crowds? I get it. Yellowstone is spectacular — but the untamed lands beyond the park borders are just as breathtaking. With thirteen mountain ranges, hidden lakes, and remote trails, there’s a whole world out there most people never even see. I love guiding guests into those lesser-known places — the ones that feel like your own private corner of the West.
