The American Legion is a patriotic veterans organization and the largest wartime veterans service organization in the United States. Its mission is to strengthen the country through programs, services, and actions that support veterans, service members, and communities.
Members of The American Legion, Post 118, have written a book on the Gardiner Cemetery at Tinker’s Hill. The book describes the history of the cemetery and provides accounts of many of the people laid to rest therein, including famous mountain men and pioneers, early settlers and businessmen, park staff and concessioners, military veterans, and other colorful characters. The book is a draft so people can review it and send corrections and new information to [email protected]. We hope to finalize the book in late January.
